Leave it to Bieber to excite crowd

t really isn’t just about the hair.

Teen pop idol Justin Bieber wore a ball cap for much of his AT&T Center set Friday night, but more than 15,000 people, mostly young girls, still screamed, almost constantly, at the top of their collective lungs. “Bieber Fever” ruled the night.

The youngster from Ontario, backed by a sharp band and a small herd of dancers and backing vocalists, brought on a rock show spectacle and hits such as “Love Me,” the ballad “Smile,” a couple of acoustic songs including “Favorite Girl,” sung and strummed while suspended above the crowd in a heart-shaped contraption, and “Overboard,” done as a duet with one of the show openers, Jasmine V.

John Ramos, 31, was chaperoning his daughters Alyssa, 9, and Alaina, 8 and a niece, Madelynn, 6, all sporting Justin Bieber T-shirts.

“I like his songs,” Alyssa said.

“I like everything,” Alaina replied.

And Madelynn?

“I like the way he wears his jacket,” she said. “It’s black.”

“It was a surprise,” Ramos said. “They thought we were going to dinner.”

But Ramos wrangled a face-to-face meeting with the singer.
