POP phenomenon Justin Bieber will tour in April – leading a rush of superstar shows in 2011.Bieber, 16, will earn $2.4 million for an eight-date arena tour around the country.
“You can expect just to have a great time,” Bieber said. “It’s a place where, hopefully, you can relate to the songs and stuff.”
Ticket prices are expected to be less than $100. Bieber’s tour, which will be announced soon, spearheads another wave of superstars clamouring to perform Down Under.
Kylie Minogue is planning winter dates for her Les Folies tour.
Minogue, who is being treated for breast cancer, hopes for an all clear in February. Minogue said: “The tour will be about my gratitude and giving back.”
Several promoters are in talks with Bruce Springsteen
But The Boss has yet to offer a window of dates in his world tour.
US rockers Kings of Leon and popular crooner Chris Isaak are strongly tipped to tour in March.
Bearded hitmakers ZZ Top are rumoured for shows in April. Van Halen and frontman David Lee Roth are close to confirming a visit next year. Billy Joel and Elton John are also tipped to tour.
Red Hot Chili Peppers and Foo Fighters are expected to play shows in the US and Europe from June, with Australian dates likely in late 2011 or early 2012.
Paul McCartney has put South America in his world tour schedule next year, which bodes well for Australian shows soon after.
The Rolling Stones will start a world tour in late 2011, with stadium stopovers in Australia in 2012.
A live show featuring stars of the television hit, Glee, pegged as one of the year’s biggest tours, will not reach these shores.
The expanding tour calendar follows a crowded summer of rock.
The Eagles, U2, Bon Jovi, Muse, Linkin Park and Gorillaz are touring in December.
Michael Buble and Neil Diamond will tour soon after.
