ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER JUSTIN BIEBER MALL MELEE

TORONTO (Hollywood Reporter) – Justin Bieber caused a stampede Sunday as the pop star dropped by a mall near his hometown of Stratford, Ont., for some Boxing Daybargain-shopping.

“There were vases being broken, and people climbing over other people and a lot of screaming,” shopper Taylor Inder told the Guelph Mercury newspaper as door-crushing fans struggled to catch a glimpse of Bieber at the Fairview Park Mall in Kitchener.

Local police broke up the noon-time melee, with Sunglass Hut shop owner Sarah Pelletier being told to shut her doors as Bieber did his bit for the Canadian economy by purchasing some shades.

“I thought, my God it’s a 16-year-old boy who’s shopping — what’s the big deal here?” Pelletier told the newspaper. “I was concerned because there was hundreds of girls out there and three police officers at my glass doors, and I’m like, ‘I don’t think this is a good mix.’”

The Canadian pop singer was reportedly in Stratford with family over the holidays, and eventually received an escort out of the mall through a back entrance, according to newspaper accounts. During his year or so atop the pop heap, his public appearances have often triggered scenes of mass chaos.
