Toronto Radio Station In Trouble For Comments About Justin Bieber Fans

Don’t mess with the Bieb’s peeps…

A Toronto radio station has been reprimanded for making comments about that fans of Justin Bieber that “inappropriately sexualized children.” CFNY’s radio personality Dean Blundell made the comments, which violated the stations equitable portrayal code which bans the sexualization of children in broadcasting.

Blundell tweeted some comments that were not kind to the singer, which led to his being attacked on Twitter by Bieber’s fans. Blundell and his co-hosts read some of the tweets on air as well as Blundell’s responses, which included incest references. “Save your energy for puberty or to fend off your dad tonight while you’re sleepin,’” read one of Blundell’s responses to a female fan.

The Canadian Broadcast Standards Council considered the comments “gratuitous and unnecessary” and the station must announce the council’s decision on the air within the next three days, both during peak listening times and during the time slot Blundell had last October when the comments were made.
